Blessed to be a Blessing

On my way to American Samoa from Missouri, I met a man in LA at the airport. His name was Dennis and he was a limo driver for celebrities. Dennis was a very friendly man and he helped me with my bags and find my way around. After I got to where I needed to go, he insisted on staying with me so I wouldn't be lonely. I treated him to lunch and let him talk my ear off. As he was talking, I realized it was him who was lonely since he had no living family whatsoever. His life entailed of work and soap operas. He said he's too exuberant for most people which is why he doesn't really get to talk with many.

We all have at least one Dennis we encounter in our lives. People God places in our lives to showcase His love and grace to. Blessings aren't just to make us happy or for our personal gain. Blessings are gifts given to showcase God's grace. God can even use us as a blessing to others.

Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing. (2 Timothy 2:21 MSG)

If you really think about it, we're just walking dirt that God breathed into. God cares for us regardless and wants to use us to bless others. He blessed us with life so we can share it with everyone else.

If God gives you a Dennis, don't ignore the opportunity to be a blessing. God blesses you so you can bless others. You never know you might end up getting blessed yourself :)

Relationship Issues

When you're building a relationship with someone, you constantly crave communication with them especially if it's someone you're very fond of. You text them, call them, FaceBook them, tweet them, Skype them, think of them and whatever else them just to stay connected.

There was a relationship I pursued where at first we constantly talked, but as time went on I felt like I was the only one talking. I became frustrated and would try to thrive off of little squirts of conversation from his end. This wasn't enough to fuel my desire for a relationship but it was enough to fuel feelings of anger, hurt and resentment yet I continued to be patient and tried to be understanding and continued to reach out when he decided to talk to me again. He only came to me when he wanted something and I continued to be there for him.

God is me in this story and that guy represents us and how we treat our relationship with God. Many times we are focused on our relationships with others we neglect our relationship with the one person who never ever forsakes us and is always there, God.

When they heard the sound of God strolling in the garden in the evening breeze, the Man and his Wife hid in the trees of the garden, hid from God. God called to the Man: "Where are you?"
(Genesis 3:8, 9 MSG)

God created people to build relations with each other and with Him. That's why He created Eve for Adam so while God was away, Adam wouldn't feel lonely. God created Adam so He could have fellowship with someone.

Like my relationship with that guy, God is like me in that situation constantly reaching out to us and comes to us when we call, but God does get hurt and he gets angry when we take Him lightly. Just think if you had created something how proud you would be of your creation and how much time you spend admiring it. God loves us and longs for us to love Him in return. That's why He created us not to be limited by the rules of religion but to live freely under our standards of relationship.

My encouragement to you is to learn to treat your relationship with God the way you treat your relationship with the person closest to you. You'll notice the difference :)
